Guest Designer Spotlight – Melyssa Connolly

"Hi my name is Melyssa Connolly from FantastInk and I’m a paper crafting SAHM. My paper adventure started about 7 years ago when I discovered scrapbooking. Eventually I found the amazing world of digital scrapbooking and have been published in Memory Makers Magazine, featured in the idea gallery and Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. About a year ago I made a couple of thank you cards for my Mom and I was instantly hooked on greeting cards! Since then I’ve been on a couple of Design Teams such as ShortCuts, The Greeting Farm and Bombshell Stamps and have been published in Paper Crafts Magazine. This is my first time as a Guest Designer and what better way to start then here at Whiff of Joy. I’m thrilled to be part of the Whiff of Joy team. All is Merry & Bright – WoJ Challenge #53

This week the lovely Donalda challenges us to use red, cream and one other colour of our choice on the Whiff of Joy challenge blog. Ok, I confess…. I used some dark brown instead of the cream *blushes* – I am still awaiting Donalda’s reproof ;)

Diese Woche setzt uns Donalda die Challenge “rot, beige und 1 weitere Farbe unserer Wahl” für die Whiff of Joy Challenge zu verwenden. Ok, ich gestehe errötend… ich habe eher ein dunkles Braun als ein Beige verwendet… Ich erwarte immer noch Donalda’s Rüge ;)

I used Henry with lantern for my christmas card and coloured him with Twinkling H2O. (If you want to know more about how I colour with Twinklings – stop by our new Tutorials blog on Nov. 1st :) I added some crystal effect on the lantern. The sentiment is a die cut from My Mind’s Eye which came with the christmas paper collection pack.

Ich habe Henry mit Laterne für meine Weihnachtskarte verwendet und ihn mit Twinking H2O coloriert. (Wenn ihr mehr darüber wissen möchtet wie ich mit den Twinklings coloriere, dann schaut doch am 1. November auf unserem neuen Tutorials blog vorbei). Ich habe crystal effect über die Laterne gestrichen. Der Text ist ein Die Cut, das mit dem My Mind’s Eye Weihnachtspapier geliefert wurde.

Introducing - new Whiff of Joy illustrator Norma Fickel

Yes, it is true!! Whiff of Joy’s next christmas release features super cute stamps designed by a new illustrator. I fell in love with Norma’s sweet designs the moment I stumbled upon her blog.
The Whiff of Joy Design Team already started with their previews. We will release all 6 designs on Saturday October 31st. Please let me know how you like our cute little christmas gnomes. I am in love..haha
We will also be releasing a wonderful collection of christmas swirls, designed by our own Sonja Wallrath (alias flati).

Ja, es ist tatsächlich wahr!! Whiff of Joy’s nächster Release von super süßen Stempeln stammt von einer neuen Illustratorin. Ich habe mich sofort in Norma’s Stil verliebt als ich über ihren Blog gestolpert bin. Das Whiff of Joy Design Team hat schon mit den Vorschauen begonnen. Wir werden alle 6 neuen Motive am Samstag den 31. Oktober veröffentlichen. Ich bin schon gespannt zu erfahren was ihr von unseren süßen Weihnachtswichteln haltet. Ich habe mich verliebt..haha Ausserdem werden wir eine wunderschöne Kollektion von Weihnachtsschnörkeln herausbringen, die Sonja Wallrath (alias flati) designed hat.

This charming Wee with christmas tree is perfect for a long rectangle card. The paper is from My Mind’s Eye. I stamped the sentiment (from Stampin’ Up) on white vellum.

Der scheue Wee hinter dem Weihnachtsbaum ist perfekt für lange rechteckige Karten. Das Papier ist von My Mind’s Eye. Den Text ( von Stampin’ Up) habe ich auf weisses Transparentpapier gestempelt.

I coloured the gnome with Twinkling H2O, added crystal effects to the star and stickles to the ground.

Ich habe den Wichtel mit Twinkling H2O coloriert, crystal effects über den Stern gestrichen und Stickles am Boden angewendet.

Snowflakes are Winter’s Butterflies

For today’s card, I followed the sketch on the Friday Sketchers Blog, which has been provided by the talented Claudia. After seeing the sketch, I wanted to create my own background and used the three snowflake stamps which come with the Whiff of Joy / Elisabeth Bell Winter Stamp Kit.

Für meine heutige Karte bin ich dem Sketch auf dem Friday Sketchers Blog gefolgt, der von der super kreativen Claudia gestaltet wurde. Sobald ich den Sketch gesehen habe, wußte ich, dass ich den Hintergrund selbst stempeln wollte. Dafür verwendete ich 3 Schneeflocken, die auf dem Whiff of Joy / Elisabeth Bell Winter Stamp Kit zu finden sind.

Lizzie with Muff illustrated by Elisabeth Bell for Whiff of Joy was part of last year’s winter stamp collection. I still love to use her for my winter and christmas cards, because she simply fits every occassion :) I coloured Lizzie wit Twinkling H2Os and added Stickles to her muff and boots.

Baby Sammy is here!!

Fantastic news awaited me in my inbox today. Alison gave birth to Baby Sam on Tuesday 12 min past 12 am.
Here is what she wrote:
"Sammy is approaching the end of his first day at home; we were discharged late afternoon yesterday and everyone's doing fine (though he is screaming right now and we're not sure why :)
He was born at 12 min past 12 am on Tuesday the 20th, 8 pounds, 14 ounces. My labour was about 11 hours long and I had to push for almost 1.5 hours since he stubbornly wouldn't come down... but all's well that ends well :)
I do have a bunch of pictures to go through and send you when I get organized, plus I'd like to get a shot of all his cards. My mom was with us all day and we opened them together, she was very impressed with the work involved. "

Fantastische Nachrichten erwarteten mich heute morgen in meiner Inbox. Baby Sam wurde am Dienstag Mittag geboren.
Hier ist was mir Alison schrieb: "Heute ist Sam's erster Tag zu Hause. Wir wurden gestern Nachmittag entlassen und alles läuft prima. Obowhl er momentan weint und wir nicht wisse warum :) Sam wurde um 12 Minuten nach 24 Uhr geboren. Er wog 4,39 kg. Ich hatte 1,5 Stunden Presswehen, da er einfach nicht geboren werden wollte :) Aber Ende gut alles gut... Ich habe ein paar Fotos, die ich noch sortieren möchte bevor ich sie schicke und ich möchte auch ein Foto von all seinen tollen Karten machen. Meine Mutter war gestern den ganzen Tag da und wir haben alle Karten gemeinsam geöffnet. Wir waren sehr beeindruckt von der Mühe, die man sich für uns gemacht hat."

A challenging sketch

Quiet Santa illustrated by the wonderful Elisabeth Bell for Whiff of Joy Stamps is one of the most charming Santa’s I have seen so far. I coloured him with Twinkling H2O and added white Fun Flock to his beard and the jacket. The sentiment is from the German christmas text set and means “Silent Night, holy Night”.
I used one of the daisy head pins as the centre of the red Prima flower. We now also have the small silver chains and the jump rings to attach charms to your cards in the Whiff of Joy online store.

Ich habe eine der daisy head pins (Stecknadeln) als Zentrum der roten Blume verwendet. Wir führen nun auch die kleinen Kettchen und die Ringe zum Befestigen der Charms im Whiff of Joy Online Shop.

Fall Birthday

I am suffering from a bad migraine today, so this post will be quite short. I hate it when headaches hit me so unexpected :(

Heute Mittag hat mich plötzlich eine böse Migräne befallen. Deswegen wir mein heutiger Beitrag eher kurz ausfallen. Ich hasse es, wenn mich So starke Kopfschmerzen so überraschend treffen :(

Maid Charlotte from the Whiff of Joy Medieval Collection is the perfect stamp for Birthday Cards and I am always short on those :) Cosmo Cricket’s fall paper was my first choice for this card.
I saw the idea with the button on Niki's blog the other day, I was instantly inspired!

Magd Charlotte von der Whiff of Joy Mittelalter Kollection ist der perfekte Stempel für Geburtstagskarten (und von denen habe ich immer zu wenig :) Das Herbst Papier von Cosmo Cricket war meine erste Wahl für die Karte.
